  1. I’m 74 and I have never bought my own KitchenAid mixer, because I have been given 4 kitchenaid mixers through the years from friends. Why? Because I cook alot and feed people, and the friend who gave away their mixers didn’t cook as much or use a mixer enough to keep it. The 1st one looked like a Boeing 747, weighed a ton, not really, fell out of my van and probably fractured my left foot! My friend and I were doing a storytelling gig and I happened to have the mixer in the van. When I opened the door, it fell out on my foot! My friend ran into the Dairy Queen and asked for ice. She drove us home and I propped my iced foot up on the dash. It was a great mixer! Mixer #2: My husband’s Aunt Helen could afford many nice things and belonging to a gourmet appliance club, she had a special edition mixer with her name engraved on the mixing bowl! WooHoo! I carried meals to her over the weekends and stayed with her when she was in her 80’s. She said her daughter wouldn’t use it and I could have it! Mixer #3: I taught school with a friend whose daughter purchased a RED mixer ( beautiful) from a Kohl’s store in a town about 100 mi. from our town. We did not have Kohl’s at that time, so when there was a glitch and it didn’t work, she didn’t take time to return it. She had bought about 4 boxes of additional attachments! I was given the red mixer (it matched my red kitchen) and husband fixed it. Since my sister was needing a new mixer and it was Christmas baking time, I gave it to her. It quit working when she made a large batch of cookies! She gave it back! It was so pretty, and I wanted it to work! Alas, I kept using my Boeing. I did have to order a new beater attachment, which didn’t fit. I used the broken beater a long time as it was. Then my dearest friend gave me her friend’s old kitchenaid, a tan one that she no longer cooked enough to justify keeping. It could have been from the 80’s! I took it and it worked like a dream! You had to laugh to think that I wanted one so badly, but why should I pay that price when I had been given 4, yes, four kitchaid mixers!!! I love them and couldn’t believe 4 fell into my hands! Blessed for sure! My sister in law’s sister needed a new mixer, so I gave her the special edition model, since I wasn’t using it. At one time, when I decorated weddings cakes, I ran 2 mixers at a time!It was going to cost too much to ship the mixer from TN to Florida, so it was returned to me. I’m still using the last one given to me, which was probably one of the oldest, and that says a lot about the quality of a Kitchenaid! I would love to have a red mixer OR orange one that is new and I would gladly give my 2 that I have away. Am I selfish? I, honestly, don’t mean to be selfish. I do think it’s ironic that I have been GIVEN 4 of these fabulous mixers, when I can’t afford one of my own purchase. I hope you find this as humorous as I do!
